The desk's standing view: the KFTC is three regulators in one body, and European counterparties confuse them. Its merger review is predictable and mostly fast. Its chaebol rules govern how Korean groups can transact with their own affiliates, which shapes every joint venture. Its platform enforcement is the least predictable and the most political.
A European firm's Korean exposure will meet at least two of the three.
